Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

HCS SB 448 -- STATEWIDE COURT AUTOMATION FUND

SPONSOR:  Bartle (Byrd)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Judiciary by a vote of 18 to 0.

This substitute extends the expiration date of the fee used to
fund the Statewide Court Automation Fund from 2004 to 2005 and
extends the expiration date of the fund itself from 2007 to 2011.

FISCAL NOTE:  Estimated Net Effect on Statewide Court Automation
Fund of $0 in FY 2004, FY 2005, and FY 2006.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill is necessary to keep
court improvements on track.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Bartle; Office of State
Courts Administrator; and Associate Circuit Judge Association.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
